Serving the seat of Bell County, Belton is a city in central Texas, United States. Founded in 1859 and named after Peter H. Bell, the city is located to the south of Belton Lake, between the cities of Killeen and Temple, and 60 miles north of Austin. It is part of the Killeen-Temple metropolitan area and is served by Interstates 14 and 35. It is bordered by the Leon River to the northeast.

The city is a wonderful place for a family-type vacation. Belton has plenty to offer both to kids and their parents, such as Bell County Museum, Summer Fun Water Park, Crusader Stadium, Harris Community Park, Millennium Oaks Park, Liberty Park, and Yettie Polk Park. Bell County Expo Center, located at 301 W Loop 121, is a large exhibition and trade center with a capacity of 6,559 people, opened in 1987. Belton is also home to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, founded in 1845. It offers degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels.
