Commerce City in Adams County, Colorado, United States, is one of the largest neighboring cities of Denver, and part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Incorporated as a city in 1962, Commerce City is located to the northeast of Denver and is served by Interstates 70, 76, and 270 and U.S. Route 6. The city has become famous for its huge industrial area and large oil refinery. The local community is greatly fond of soccer, and there is a large soccer stadium named Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. The city is also home to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, a major tourist destination in the area, established in 1992. It has an area of 15,988 acres (64.70 km2) and is home to a wide variety of animals including coyotes, American white pelicans, deer, bison and black-footed ferrets.
