Fresno is a large city in the central region of California, in the Pacific area of the United States of America. It is an inland community located between the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, near the highlands of eastern California. Fresno is a lovely city situated on the banks of the San Joaquin River, in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. The name of the city comes from a Spanish word meaning “ash tree”.

The area of Fresno is estimated at nearly 115 square miles, and the city serves as an important transportation and cultural center of the region. Fresno is located about 200 miles north of Los Angeles and about 180 miles southeast of San Francisco. It is considered the largest city closest to the geographical center of the state. The city is a hotspot for business and logistics, with two major highways, Highway 99 and Highway 41, crossing through it.

Fresno is also known as a center for performing arts and theater. The most important attractions of the city include the African American Museum of the San Joaquin Valley, Azteca Theater, Fresno Grand Opera, Forestiere Underground Gardens, and the Old Fresno Water Tower.

Tourists also come to the city to explore the surrounding nature and visit nearby national parks and forests, including Sierra National Forest, Yosemite National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and Inyo National Forest.
