Las Vegas, New Mexico: Filming Location of No Country for Old Men

Las Vegas is a city in New Mexico, United States, located within San Miguel County. Founded in 1835, the city serves as the seat of the county. The city is home to New Mexico Highlands University, a public university founded in 1893. Las Vegas Municipal Airport, Las Vegas Train Station, and State Roads 104, 250, and 518, and Interstate 25 serve the area. It is a historic city, home to several old buildings, including the Plaza Hotel, which was built in 1881. Others are Old City Hall, Louis Fort House, and Dr. H.J. Mueller House. Local attractions include Las Vegas' Carnegie Library, the City of Las Vegas Museum and Rough Rider Memorial Collection, Melody Park, Ilfeld Auditorium, and Gene Torres Golf Course. The Castañeda Hotel, a historic railroad hotel located at 541 Railroad Avenue, was built in 1898. The hotel has been listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties since 1974.
