Richmond, Virginia: The State Capital

Richmond is an independent city and the capital of the state of Virginia, USA, located in the east-central part of the state. It is a historic city, founded in the early 18th century, and it has played an important role in the development of the region. Richmond is a major transportation hub, and its economy is based on agriculture-related industries, including tobacco and food production, as well as commerce, finance, and other business sectors. Richmond International Airport is located about 7 miles southeast of the city center.
