SoHo, New York, USA

SoHo is a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, United States. The name SoHo comes from “South of Houston Street”, which defines the area’s location. The neighborhood includes the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is also designated as a U.S. National Historic Landmark District and a New York City Landmark. Covering approximately 73 acres (30 hectares), the district is known for its Renaissance Revival and Italianate-style buildings.

SoHo is famous for its historic cast-iron architecture, much of which dates back to the 19th century. Today, the neighborhood is famous for its art galleries, boutique shops, designer stores, and trendy cafés and restaurants, making it one of the most popular shopping and dining areas in Manhattan.

One of SoHo’s notable landmarks is The Wall (also known as “The Gateway to SoHo”), created by artist Forrest Myers in 1973; the artwork was temporarily removed during renovations in the early 2000s and reinstalled in 2007, remaining a recognizable symbol of the neighborhood today. SoHo is easily accessible by subway and is definitely a must-visit neighborhood in New York City.
