Tok is a small town situated in the eastern part of Alaska, situated near a large natural preserve, Tanana Valley State Park. Tok can be found on the intersection of the Glenn Highway (Highway 1) and the Alaska Highway (Highway 2). The border between the US and Canada is located just less than 10 miles east of Tok. The town is a home to 1,250 people and it is established at the location of an old Athabascan settlement. The name of the town is derived from the expression meaning "peaceful crossing". Tok is a small commercial and educational center, with a few great schools and a small facility providing distance education in the University of Alaska.
