Warmenhuizen is a town in the municipality of Schagen, in the province of Noord-Holland. In the West Frisian dialect one can name the town as Warmehui'ze and Wermehúze. The regional nickname is Warmetuut. In the originally agricultural village many commuters came to live after 1970. Until 1990 Warmenhuizen was an independent municipality after which it became a part of the municipality of Harenkarspel. The town was joined with Zijpe in 2013 to the municipality of Schagen. The town had about 5,550 residents in 2016. Warmenhuizen can be found only more than a mile away from the shores of the North Sea.
