Starring Bruno Ganz, Alexandra Maria Lara, Ulrich Matthes, Corinna Harfouch, Juliane Köhler, Heino Ferch, Christian Berkel, and Matthias Habich, the film depicts the Nazi dictator's final days during the Battle of Berlin in World War II. It was released on 16 September 2004 in Germany, nominated for the 2005 Academy Awards in "Best Foreign Language Film of the Year". Downfall was shot in Berlin and Munich, Germany. Filming also took place at Bavaria Studios, Bavaria.
