Starring young talents Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, François Arnaud, Callan Potter, Nadine Bhabha, and Robbie G.K., the series premiered on November 28, 2025, in Canada on Crave. It was also released by HBO Max in the United States and Australia. The series is based on the books Heated Rivalry (2019) and The Long Game (2022) from Rachel Reid's Game Changers novel series.

Heated Rivalry was shot in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with additional filming taking place in Montréal, Québec. Filming locations included the Sleeman Centre in Guelph, a multi-purpose facility located at 50 Woolwich Street. It has been home to the Guelph Storm (OHL) since its opening in 2000.
