Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield, Lucy Davis, Dylan Moran, and Rafe Spall, the film was released on 9 April 2004 (United Kingdom), received two nominations at the 2005 BAFTA Film Awards. The film also won Bram Stoker Awards for "Screenplay" as well as Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for "Best Horror Film".
The shooting took place in London. Additional filming took place at Ealing Studios. Shaun's place of work was in North Finchley.
