A city in the very southern part of British Columbia in western Canada, Greenwood is situated right near the border between Canada and the US. The city is really tiny and has the population of only about 8 hundred people. Traditionally, the region is mining and used to feed its economy from natural recourse processing and mining. However, currently most of the mines are closed and abandoned. Local residents are mainly engaged in agricultural business and services for the residents of the city. It is interesting that some residents of the city have Japanese origins since about 70 years ago there was a group of Japanese specialists was settled in the city to help in the local mining businesses.
