Hamilton is a historic port city located on the shores of Lake Ontario in the southern part of Ontario, southeastern Canada. Together with the larger cities of Mississauga and Toronto, located to the north and northeast, Hamilton forms a sizable metropolitan area, one of the largest in the southeastern region of the country.

The city lies on the western edge of the Niagara Peninsula and marks the westernmost part of Lake Ontario. The downtown area of Hamilton is about 35 miles from Toronto, 245 miles from Ottawa, and approximately 175 miles from Detroit. The harbor provides a scenic setting and contributes to the city’s distinctive atmosphere.
