Hobart is a city in Oklahoma, United States, located about 120 miles southwest of Oklahoma City in the western part of the state. Founded in the early 20th century, the city was named after Garret Hobart. It is a small community and serves as the seat of Kiowa County.
Hobart has several local facilities, including the Hobart Municipal Golf Course, a Walmart store, and the Elk Creek Kiowa Casino, along with a few restaurants. Other points of interest include the General Franks Institute & Museum and Shortgrass Playhouse Inc. The Downtown Hobart Historic District covers 36 acres and features several historic buildings, such as Hobart City Hall, Hobart Public Library, and the Kiowa County Courthouse. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Hobart City Hall, built in 1912 and designed by W. A. Etherton, has been listed on the National Register since 1978.
Hobart Regional Airport, located about 3 miles from the city center, serves the area. U.S. Route 183 and Oklahoma State Highway 9 connect Hobart to neighboring communities. The city’s economy mainly relies on agriculture.
