The seat of Koochiching County, International Falls is a city in northern Minnesota, United States, located on the banks of Rainy River, the border with Canada. International Falls is situated across from Fort Frances in Ontario, separated by the river, and connected by the Fort Frances–International Falls International Bridge. The city is known as the Icebox of the Nation due to its weather conditions. It was founded in 1870 and incorporated as a city in 1909. Falls International Airport and U.S. Routes 53 and 71 and Minnesota State Highway 11 serve the area. The city has a few landmarks and attractions such as Smokey Bear Park and Backus Community Center.
