Nashik, Maharashtra, India

Nashik (नाशिक) is a large, historic, and populous city in the state of Maharashtra, located in the western part of the Indian subcontinent. Among locals, the city is especially famous as the place where Lord Rama is believed to have lived during his exile. Nashik is situated in the northern part of Maharashtra, relatively close to the border with the state of Gujarat.

Covering an area of a little over 100 square miles, Nashik is one of the major urban centers of the region. The city is often associated with the so-called “Golden Triangle” of Maharashtra, formed by Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik. The distance from Nashik to Mumbai is about 100–110 miles, while Pune is approximately 125–130 miles away. The city of Surat in Gujarat is about 140 miles away.

Nashik has a long and fascinating history and offers many attractions to visitors. The city is built along the banks of the Godavari River and features a diverse terrain, with some areas at relatively higher elevations. One of the notable natural attractions is Someshwar Waterfall, located on the northwestern outskirts of the city, which draws a large number of tourists.

Numerous temples, ancient forts, and historic buildings can be found near the river, along with green spaces and public squares in the central parts of the city. Nashik is also known for its modern healthcare facilities, located both in the downtown area and on the outskirts of the city.
