Formerly a growing and developing municipality, it started drying out after merging with the large city since most of the residents managed to move closer to the city center and get some better jobs. Thus, Netteri became more like a recreation area, with a few old houses and summer houses of crowded families. Currently, there are about 2,000 people living in the town.
