Panaji, also known as Panjim, is the capital of the state of Goa, located on the estuary of the Mandovi River. It is both a resort city and the administrative headquarters of North Goa district, offering a range of attractions and places of interest. Visitors to Panaji can enjoy nearby beaches as well as historic architecture, including small churches and temples.

Dabolim Airport serves the region and is located about 30 kilometers from the city center. Several important institutions have offices in Panaji, including the Bombay High Court, the Sports Authority of Goa, All India Radio, the Doordarshan Complex, and the Goa Legislative Assembly.
