A large historic town in south eastern part of Karnataka state in eastern India, Ramanagara is a small commercial, industrial, and agricultural center of the region. It was established about 4 centuries ago and is known for its traditional silk and silk souvenir production. It used to be a large commercial center known for its farmer's market and agricultural companies. In modern times, Ramanagara is a home to almost 100,000 people, most of those are employed in services and farming. There are a few companies in the town processing the Closepet granites, special stone deposits that are in plenty in the area. Since the town is known for it, a few centuries ago it used to be called Closepet, but then its name has been changed to Ramangara.
