Srinagar is a city in Jammu and Kashmir, a union territory of India, located in the northeastern part of the country. The city enjoys an amazing location in a valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, surrounded by spectacular mountains. It is known as the "Venice of the East" with historic local houses, comfortable hotels, excellent restaurants, recreation facilities, sports facilities, and many other attractions.

The total urban area of Srinagar is about 11.4 square miles, situated in the northwestern part of Jammu and Kashmir. The city is approximately 105 miles from Islamabad, 110 miles from Rawalpindi, 180 miles from Lahore, and slightly over 200 miles from Faisalabad, making it the northernmost large city in India.

Srinagar has a unique atmosphere and abundant natural beauty. Notable lakes include Anchar Lake and Dal Lake, which provide boating opportunities and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The city is surrounded by natural parks and wildlife preserves, including Dachigam National Park, Forest Block Natural Preserves, Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary, Sancery Area, Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary, and Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden. Srinagar is encircled by spectacular mountain chains and peaks, including Sunset Peak, Mount Kolahoi, Haramukh Mountain Peak, and others.
