Ratched Locations

Ratched is an American crime-drama mystery television series created by Evan Romansky and Ryan Murphy, based on Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The series stars Sarah Paulson, Alfred Rubin Thompson, Judy Davis, Harriet Sansom Harris, Cynthia Nixon, Hunter Parrish, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Rosanna Arquette, and Sharon Stone, and it premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2020.

Ratched was filmed in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Monterey, California. Interior scenes were shot at 20th Century Fox Studios, while the exterior shots of Lucia State Hospital were filmed at King Gillette Ranch, located at 26800 Mulholland Highway, Calabasas. Hotel exteriors were filmed at Lucia Lodge, a 2-star hotel in Big Sur. One of the series’ key locations, Mildred’s childhood home, was located at 1366 East Palm Street, Altadena.

The Adamson House Museum in Malibu also appeared in the series. This Spanish Colonial Revival building, located at 23200 Pacific Coast Highway, was designed by Stiles O. Clements and built in 1929. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 28, 1977. This historic property has also served as a filming location for Dallas and Charlie’s Angels.
