Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) is a 2019 American space-opera action, adventure, fantasy film produced and directed by J. J. Abrams, written by J. J. Abrams and Chris Terrio, based on characters created by George Lucas, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J. J. Abrams, and Michelle Rejwan. The film is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. It stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, John Boyega, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Keri Russell, Kelly Marie Tran, Ian McDiarmid, Joonas Suotamo, and Billy Dee Williams. 

Filming took place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, as well as at Cardington Studios in Bedford. The film was also shot in Wadi Rum, Jordan.
