Survivor is an American survival competition reality show that first aired on CBS on May 31, 2000. It follows contestants who are left in a remote location with only what they are wearing. The last remaining survivor wins one million dollars. The show was created by Charlie Parsons, is hosted by Jeff Probst, and has won seven Primetime Emmy Awards, along with numerous other awards and nominations. Season 49 of the show premiered on September 24, 2025, and Season 50 is scheduled to be released on February 25, 2026.
Filming Locations of Survivor
Survivor has been filmed in various stunning locations around the world. For example, Survivor: Gabon - Earth’s Last Eden, the seventeenth season, was filmed in the Wonga-Wongue Presidential Reserve, while the fifteenth season, Survivor: China, was shot at Mount Lu West Sea in Jiujiang. Other significant locations include Pulau Tiga, Malaysia (Season 1); Rio Negro, Amazonas (Season 6); the Pearl Islands, Panama (Season 7); and San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua (Season 29).
The Mamanuca Islands in Fiji have been the primary filming location of Survivor since 2016. Monuriki, part of the Mamanuca Islands, was featured in the 2000 film Cast Away, starring Tom Hanks.
