Greenland 2: Migration is an American survival action sci-fi thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling, based on characters created by Chris Sparling. Starring Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Roman Griffin Davis, Trond Fausa, Amber Rose Revah, and Gina Gangar, the film follows the Garrity family as they leave the safety of a bunker in Greenland and travel across a ruined, frozen Europe in search of a new place to call home. The film is a sequel to the 2020 thriller Greenland and was released on January 6, 2026, in Austria and on January 9, 2026, in the United States.
Where was Greenland 2: Migration Filmed?
Greenland 2: Migration was filmed in Reykjavík, Iceland, as well as at various locations across England. Some scenes were shot in Alton, Hampshire, which was transformed into a post-apocalyptic town for the film. Additional filming took place at Shinfield Studios, located on South Avenue in Shinfield, Berkshire, England. Situated 25 miles west of central London, the studio has hosted several major productions, including Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023), Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), and Squid Game: The Challenge (2025).
Filming for Greenland 2: Migration began in April 2024 and concluded in July 2024.
