As the historic evidence shows, the first settlements appeared in the area in the Stone Age, and the new era of the town's development is marked by the 6th century AD when the first discovered items of kitchenware and housewares were produced. The oldest church in the town, St.Andrew's Church, was built in the 12th century, and he town's tower was constructed in the beginning of the 15th century. Soham is notorious for a number of accidents and life-taking events, like the train accident in 1944 or so called Soham murders in 2002.
