It is the third film in the series and serves as the sequel to Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). The film stars Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang, David Thewlis, and Oona Chaplin.
Avatar: Fire and Ash was shot in New Zealand. Filming occurred at MBS Media Campus in California and Stone Street Studios in New Zealand. Stone Street Studios has hosted many notable productions, including The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and King Kong. Lightstorm Entertainment, an independent film and television production company founded by James Cameron and Lawrence Kasanoff in 1990, is headquartered at MBS Media Campus.
