G.I. Jane Locations

G.I. Jane is an American action drama war movie directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Twohy and Danielle Alexandra. Starring Demi Moore as Lieutenant Jordan O'Neil, along with Viggo Mortensen, Anne Bancroft, Jason Beghe, John Michael Higgins, Daniel von Bargen, and David Warshofsky, the film was released on August 22, 1997, and grossed $98.4 million worldwide against a $50 million budget. 

The film follows the fictional story of Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil, the first woman to undergo SEAL-like special operations training, who faces extreme challenges and prejudice but ultimately proves her determination and wins her commander’s respect. 

19 years after the film, the U.S. Navy SEALs allowed women into their team. 

Where Was G.I. Jane Filmed? 

The movie G.I. Jane was primarily filmed at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Florida, located about 40 miles from Jacksonville. Known as a long-standing training base for the Florida National Guard since 1940, Camp Blanding served as the main setting for the military training scenes in the film. 

In addition to Florida, G.I. Jane was also filmed in Washington, D.C., California, and England. The desert sequences, which appear to take place in the Libyan Desert, were shot in Lone Pine, California, an area used for desert landscapes in numerous Hollywood productions. Several studio scenes were filmed at Shepperton Studios in England, one of the most prominent film studios in the UK.
