Up in the Air is an American romantic comedy-drama movie directed by Jason Reitman, written by Reitman and Sheldon Turner, based on the novel of the same title by Walter Kirn. Starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman, Amy Morton, Melanie Lynskey, J.K. Simmons, Sam Elliott, Danny McBride, and Zach Galifianakis, the film tells the story of a corporate "downsizer" Ryan Bingham, traveling around the country. It was released on December 4, 2009, in the United States, grossed $166.8 million worldwide, and was nominated for 6 Oscars, including "Best Motion Picture of the Year".
