Stand by Me is an American coming-of-age adventure drama movie directed by Rob Reiner, based on Stephen King's 1982 novella The Body. The film stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O'Connell, John Cusack, and Richard Dreyfuss. Its title is derived from Ben E. King's song. The film follows the story of four boys living in a small town who go on a hike to find the body of a missing boy. It was released on August 22, 1986, nominated for an Oscar: "Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium" (Raynold Gideon and Bruce A. Evans). The movie is considered one of the best Stephen King adaptations. Stand by Me was shot in Brownsville, Oregon. The train chase scene was filmed on the McCloud River Railroad.
