Lion is an Australian, British biographical drama film directed by Garth Davis, written by Luke Davies, and based on the book "A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierley. Starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Sunny Pawar, Abhishek Bharate, Priyanka Bose, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and David Wenham, the film follows the true story of a young man who was separated from his family in India when he was 5 years old. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 10 October 2016, nominated for 6 Oscars including "Best Motion Picture of the Year".

Just as an addendum to the previous comment, the actual water tower that Saroo Brierley remembered was not the one in Khandwa, it was one near the station in Burhanpur where he went with his brother: 76.198996° East, 21.335329° North.
In the film, Dev Patel as Saroo, recognises features of his home town in Google Earth. One particular image featured in the movie from Google Earth is of a water tower that Saroo recognises. However, the water tower in this image is not the water tower near the Kandhwar station. It is a water tower at Bagat Ki Kothi Railway Station in the south of the city of Jodhpur, about 650 km north west of Khandwa.
The tower's location - 73.1051° East, 26.2537° North.
